JACOB & CO equipped the model with a new movement, replacing the previous model in one fell swoop. Through a pure and modern way, deeply rooted in the brand and the field of haute horlogerie, it interprets the complex functions of GMT watches.
At the center of the amphitheater-like structure, an unobstructed view of the Earth is displayed. The globe continues to rotate 24 hours a day like a spin, and is at the same height as the sapphire crystal, almost touching the surface. The amphitheater structure surrounds three rings that indicate local time as well as the hours and minutes of universal time.
This watch is admired by collectors for its exceptional chronometric performance and its beating heart is breathtaking. Greubel Forsey once again impresses the world with its exquisite craftsmanship. The 30˚ tilted balance appears to be suspended, but is actually supported by a flat black polished and barrel-shaped polished steel balance bridge on a polished steel cage. To its right, a small seconds hand displayed with a blue gold hand completes the overall construction.
The iconic convex case designed by JACOB & CO is unique and refreshing. The case is made of titanium metal, with a bezel diameter of 46.5 mm and a bezel diameter of 43.5 mm, which ideally fits the curve of the wrist. At the same time, it also represents a major technical feat in aligning the movement with a tilted arc of just a few degrees. The same curved geometry is used in the sapphire crystal and satin-finished bezel, which extends to a titanium bracelet or textured rubber strap.
When JACOB & CO introduced the Limited Edition GMT Sport in 2019, only 200 limited editions were made. It included a lightweight and ultra-strong titanium case and an ovoid bezel shape to demonstrate the new movement with water resistance up to 100 meters. Every part of the movement to the case was made from scratch, from the orchard bridge for the hours and minutes display to the unique showcase for the Tourbillon 24 Seconds and the universal 3C dimensional globe.
